For 18 months the Wood family struggled alone and then, they heard about Sense. Gillian describes their initial meeting with Sense as 'coming home'.

Emily is a bright, 11 year old who is deaf and blind. Had Emily not received our support at an early age, her development could have been severely limited. As a deafblind child gets older, it becomes much harder for them to learn essential communication skills.

Fahim, who is profoundly deaf and has problems with his sight, has regular access to a Sense toy library. His mum Helen says, "The toy library is very helpful. When you go to specialist shops, these toys are just too expensive."

Gethin loves Christmas. From scrunchy wrapping paper to eating sprouts, he loves it all! He is registered blind and is profoundly deaf. But he knows the smell of Christmas.

For four-year-old Lucas, life is full of challenges. Without the sights and sounds we take for granted, a Sense holiday full of amazing activities helps him to grow - a very special week of fun, laughter and learning.

Mark was born both deaf and blind. He urgently needed intensive help to prepare for nursery school and now has his very own Sense-trained 'intervenor' - a special kind of interpreter who is helping him to play and interact with other children at school.

Scott, who’s only four years old, was born both deaf and blind. Instead of just looking at the problems he faced, we looked at his abilities and how he could use all his senses to understand the world around him.
