Norman Brown tributes

On Sunday 28 January 2007, Norman Brown sadly passed away. Norman had a unique place in Sense’s work and I know that, for many of us in Sense, this feels like a real personal loss. His caring and thoughtful manner touched many of our lives. His ideas were fundamental to the development of our services to families and he worked for many years to put those ideas into practice.

Norman was also very well known overseas and contributed significantly to the development of many individual people and services. He also developed our thinking about deafblindness and, both national and internationally, he had an enormous influence through his lecturing and writing.

Perhaps what comes through most in the comments that have been received is a gentle man with an independent spirit, with imagination and humour.

I hope this collection of memories and tributes will help us all to celebrate the life of this remarkable person.
