The Woodside Family Centre

The Woodside Family Centre is based in Kingswood in Bristol and provides a range of services, including a Saturday Club, a playscheme and a creche.

Outside of the Woodside Family Centre

The centre is for children and adults who:

  • are deafblind or multi-needs sensory impaired
  • have a single sensory impairment
  • have a single sensory impairment and other disabilities
  • families, carers, teachers and other relevant professionals.

The Centre is open throughout the year (staffed weekdays between 9am-5pm). Families are welcome to visit informally (by appointment) or phone to book.

The Centre was opened by Sense in 1993 in Kingswood for its Avon branch and for the families of young sensory impaired children in the South West. The Centre also has a close involvement with Look, The National Federation of families with visually impaired children.

  • a range of multi-sensory activities in a safe and stimulating environment
  • play schemes
  • open mornings during school holidays
  • Saturday clubs
  • family activities and outings
  • social events throughout the year
  • courses for parents and professionals
  • toy library
  • information and advice.

The Woodside Family Centre is funded though membership of Sense and charitable donations, grants and income through centre hire.
