Local authority survey

In the autumn of 2002 the Sense Campaigns team conducted a telephone survey of local authorities to find out what the pattern of provision for deafblind people looked like.

Two years on, had the Government's Deafblind Guidance, entitled 'Social Care for Deafblind Children and Adults' (LAC(2001)8), led to the recognition of deafblind people and the provision of appropriate specialist services?

Managers in over 170 local authorities in England and Wales - where the Guidance applies - were interviewed. In late 2006 the survey was repeated, by postal questionnaire.

Here are the latest results. Where no response has been received, details from previous years are included. As further responses are received we will update these pages. The information is self reported by authorities - Sense is not in a position to check the accuracy of responses.
